‘Out-of-the-box’ design results in voluminous motor yacht

Steenwijk – A level floor from stem to stern, an all-round view of the water, entirely self-divisible with the 45 M2 single floor surface, extremely ample volume and a dynamic, contemporary design with long, stratified lines. These are the most notable features of the Panama Flatfloor by Steeler, the first two of which have been on the basis of the drawing.

Fast-sailing apartment with a large sun veranda
Hans Webbink of Steeler Yachts had already had the idea at the back of his mind when it was brought to the fore by an English customer. "I've been wondering for years why a boat has to have different levels. And steps you're always bumping into. I was at the London Boat Show when a customer asked me to build a fast-sailing apartment, with a large sun veranda. This set me thinking, and I showed a single floor concept to a number of yacht architects. Pim Dijksman of Vripack was our glorious winner and came up with a fantastic design. That's important because the starting point was functionality, but the overall result did of course have to have an impressive appearance." We certainly succeeded in that.

Unique layout
The Panorama Flatfloor by Steeler has a steep bow that flows seamlessly at the top into the deck that shelters the gangways and continues virtually completely to the stern. The wheelhouse has a dome-like appearance. Not just by its shape, but also the amount of glass. From the wheelhouse you come out onto the huge afterdeck with a surface area of 22 m²: more than enough space for a lounge sofa and two sun beds. But you can also communicate freely with passengers in the accommodation below, which is exceptional for a flybridge yacht, which usually keeps you isolated from what is taking place below.
The motor yacht has straight bulkheads, very many windows from fore to aft and two doors on either side so that you can moor virtually dry and embark and disembark without difficulty. Since the roof runs over the entire yacht the (self-draining) cockpit is covered and there is always somewhere for you to shelter from the sun and rain.

Oceans of space
Webbink: "Seen as a 'cube', a conventional motor yacht with a length of 14 m, a breadth of 4 m and a clearance height of 3 metres would have a content of 168 m3. But despite that an average of only 60 m³ remains in a yacht. That could be because the wheelhouse alone has a height of three metres, the gangways take up a lot of the interior space and the foredecks are low. The Panorama Flatfloor has a volume of no less than 124m³, not least because the clearance height is used over the full length. That is more than twice the volume. And the standing height is between 2.10 and 2.20 meters throughout the yacht." To ensure a short building time whilst guaranteeing a free layout, the Panorama Flatfloor by Steeler is equipped with technology frames with ring mains so that a tap position can easily be made. That makes it possible to change the layout without the need for any complex rebuilding processes.

Multifunctional tank
Another innovation is the 5500 litre tank amidships. That not only makes the vessel virtually unsinkable if used as an air tank, but you can also fill it with water in ten minutes to lower the clearance height by 12 cm, which means that even the lowest bridges on the way to the South of France no longer form an obstacle. You could even consider filling the tank with diesel, thus creating a huge radius of action. The first Panorama FF46 is equipped with 2 Yanmar 6BY3 - 160 HP engines and has a maxiumum speed of 11 knots.
