First European Powerboat of the Year award for Steeler Yachts
During the Flagship night at the Düsseldorf Boatshow on January 17th 2015 the international jury of the prestigious European Powerboat of the Year election has awarded the Steeler Panorama FlatFloor 46 with the title ‘European Powerboat of The Year 2015’. The jury report focussed on the revolutionary ‘single level living’ concept of the Steeler Panorama and the 360 degrees panoramic experience. In combination with a breakthrough design and impressive key data on fuel efficiency, noise levels and sailing characteristics the Panorama Flatfloor became the proud winner over the other five nominees in her category.
For Steeler Yachts this is a recognition of a strategy based on innovation and the courage to be different. Hans Webbink, CEO of Steeler Yachts: “In fact, there was no market research behind the concept of the Panorama FlatFloor. Our existing lines of the Steeler Next Generation and the Bronson tenders fulfilled most demands of our target group. But the urge to pursue the idea of a single level living concept where available living space on board would be doubled compared to traditional motoryachts, was too strong to resist”.
Together with Vripack Naval Archirects, the challenging design process took more than 18 months in which three versions of the Panorama were developed. Apart from the award winning Panorama FF46, built in Steel as a 11 knots displacement yacht, there is a FF48 Offshore (aluminium, 23 knots) and a FF53 (aluminium, triple IPS, 34 knots) ready to go under construction.
Hans Webbink: “In our opinion the benefits of the FlatFloor concept are not limited to displacement yachts only. For each yacht owner in any sailing area, the unprecedented space, view and comfort the Panorama FlatFloor will offer a challenging alternative for the existing (sport)cruisers and yachts on the market.”
