This October, the Steeler Ocean Explorer 72 Two Bubbles will make her US boat show debut at the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show. But before arriving in Florida, she had already made history as the first Steeler yacht to cross the Atlantic Ocean on her own keel, captained by her owner.
The journey began in the Netherlands, continuing along the Portuguese coast, through the Canary Islands, and onward to Cabo Verde. From there, Two Bubbles embarked on the 2,000-nautical-mile crossing to Barbados. Over 11 days at sea, she encountered winds of 30–35 knots and waves reaching 4–5 meters. Her owner, who captained the yacht himself and had previously crossed every ocean under sail, was making his first ocean crossing aboard a motoryacht.
Reflecting on the challenging conditions, the owner and captain wrote in his report:
“Two Bubbles never flinched. Her stability was extraordinary”
The experience confirmed his decision to transition from sail to motor, seeking greater comfort and stability without giving up the freedom to explore. With a cruising range of over 4,000 nautical miles at 8 knots, the Ocean Explorer 72 was designed for precisely these kinds of journeys. After spending time exploring the Caribbean, Two Bubbles continued toward Fort Lauderdale. From October 28 to November 1, Two Bubbles will be on display at the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show, at the Bahia Mar Yachting Center, Face Dock, slip DE8. We invite you to step aboard and discover the Ocean Explorer 72 firsthand.
